Palazzo Dama

Palazzo Dama is my most recent hotel find in Rome. We tried it in January with the intention of coming back in summer if it was worth it: and it sure was!

Great location, relaxed air, cozy rooms, pet friendly and, they have an outdoor pool, which is the rarest thing in the center of Rome, and will be much appreciated through the hot and dry summer months.

The hotel building is a 18th century palazzo, a large town house that used to house a wealthy family. Transformed into a boutique hotel, the interior meets the requirements of today’s instaworthy places and beyond. You have the plants and framed photographs on the walls, the coffee-table books and the chandeliers...

The place does not feel particularly Italian – it could easily be in London or Paris – but talk to the charming staff and you’ll know you are in Rome.

On the website, Palazzo Dama advertises itself as a party hotel, which was the only thing that got me wondering beforehand. Yet, we stayed on the top floor and did not hear a thing from downstairs, so party all night or not, we enjoyed our stay.

This is a hotel that suits a city break perfectly. Everything is comfortable and easy, just like it should be. Great location means a five-minute walk from Piazza del Popolo so you are literally in the center of everything. With only 30 rooms and very reasonable prices in this setup, I am guessing it won’t be easy to get a room in July. But I will sure try.
